The Role of AI in Mithistomial Art and the Mithistome

Introduction

AI’s integration into art challenges traditional notions of creativity and authorship.

Historically, art has been viewed as a distinctly human endeavour, rooted in individual expression and emotional depth.

However, the advent of AI technologies has prompted a re-evaluation of these assumptions.

AI can analyse vast datasets, identify patterns, and generate novel outputs, leading to the question: can AI-generated works be considered art?

In the context of mithistomes, AI functions as both a collaborator and a tool.

Artists utilise AI algorithms to explore new creative possibilities, expanding their artistic vocabulary and pushing the boundaries of conventional practices.

This collaborative dynamic raises important questions about the nature of creativity—specifically, whether the creative process is diminished or enhanced when AI is involved.

What is a Mithistome?

A misthistome is a single creation in the genre of Mithistomial Art – art that made with the aid of Artificial Intelligence.

Mithistomes are denoted by the use of the omraldia and omraldicon and are associated with a background story and attropiation to the influences and/or inspiration that led to the mithistome’s creation.

The term “mithistome” came into being on 8th August 2024 as a polyonom.

The first mithistome was created and released in public on that day ↓
